FAQs

helpful information for your stay

WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?

We take a $500 deposit for Classic Rooms and an $800 deposit for suites. That is refundable up to 30 days prior to your arrival minus a $25 processing fee. If you cancel within 30 days of your arrival, you forfeit the deposit. At 10 days prior to your arrival, we’ll charge the full balance of the reservation, and no changes or cancellations can be made. The full reservation is non-refundable 10 days prior to arrival. 


CAN I GET A REFUND IF I’M INJURED OR IF THE ROAD IS CLOSED?

Reservations are non-refundable within 10 days prior to arrival. We highly recommend you purchase trip insurance to protect you from any unforeseen circumstances.  


WHEN CAN I CHECK IN?

Check-in is at 3:00pm and check-out is at 11:00am. We have storage available if you are arriving early or leaving late. Please feel free to use the amenities while you wait for your room to become available or for your shuttle ride to the airport. 


IS THERE A SERVICE CHARGE?

We do not add a service charge. The Utah Sales Tax is 9.05% and the Salt Lake County hotel tax is 6.07%.  


CAN I LEAVE GRATUITY?

Gratuities are greatly appreciated. 


DO YOU PROVIDE HOUSEKEEPING SERVICES?

If you are staying five or more nights, we provide you with one mid-stay housekeeping service. Please communicate with the front desk about when/if you would like that service. If you would like fresh towels, please contact the front desk.  


ARE MEALS INCLUDED IN MY STAY?

Breakfast, après-ski, and dinner are included in your stay. Breakfast is a full buffet with the option of rotating specials and other items to be ordered from our kitchen. Dinner is a four-course prix fixe menu with different specials each night from our Chefs. Lunch is also available in our saloon. 


DO I NEED RESERVATIONS FOR DINING?

Yes, reservations are required for dinner and breakfast. You can call 24 hours prior to arrival to make a reservation. Out-of-house guests must be approved by restaurant management in advance.  


WHAT IF I MISS DINNER?

If you miss dinner service (5:30pm-8:30pm) on the night of your arrival, you will receive meal credits for entrées in the Saloon. The Saloon is open 11:00am-10:00pm.  


IS THERE A COMMUNITY DINING TABLE?

Yes, you can request to sit at the community table at 5:45pm if there is availability.  


IS THERE A DRESS CODE IN THE RESTAURANT?

We do not have a dress code for the dining room. 


WHERE CAN I EAT LUNCH?

Lunch is available in the Saloon on the 2nd floor and the Slopeside Cafe on the first floor.  


DO YOU HAVE PARKING?

The Goldminer’s has an overnight parking area for guests. Parking is $25/night and does not include valet or shoveling. We recommend that you take transportation to and from the airport rather than bring a rental vehicle. 


HOW SHOULD I GET TO THE LODGE?

We recommend Alta Shuttle or Alpine Transportation. They have 4WD/snow tires and are familiar with Highway 210.


DO YOU HAVE LAUNDRY?

Coin-op laundry is available on the G floor. Quarters are available at the front desk.  


IS THERE A TOWN SHUTTLE?

We offer a complimentary shuttle for hotel guests around the town of Alta and down to Snowbird. It runs on-demand, so just come to the front desk when you are ready. Additionally, Alta Shuttle runs a separate shuttle that services the town of Alta and Snowbird and picks up by the bus stop on the northwest corner of the building. 


DO YOU HAVE A FITNESS CENTER?

Our fitness center was just renovated over the summer of 2025 and it’s open 24 hours a day. Cardio equipment includes a treadmill, elliptical, recumbent bike, and stationary bike. We also have a workout rack and free weights.  


WHERE CAN I RENT SKI EQUIPMENT?

The Motherlode Ski Shop is located off of our lobby. They offer the latest equipment and outerwear for both rental and purchase. You do not need a reservation for rentals, but it may speed the process up slightly if you reserve them on their website.  


DO I GET A DISCOUNT ON A LIFT TICKET?

We do not sell lift tickets, nor can we get you a discount on a lift ticket. Please visit www.alta.com to purchase lift tickets.  


HOW DO I RESERVE A SKI LESSON?

Please book your ski lessons well in advance for holiday and peak time periods. You can find more information and reserve at Alf Engen Ski School.  


DO YOU ALLOW PETS?

Little Cottonwood Canyon is a protected watershed canyon. Pets are not allowed in the canyon. You can visit www.townofalta.utah.gov for more information. 


WHAT IF THERE IS AN INTERLODGE DURING MY STAY?

If there is an interlodge during your stay, you can consider yourself very lucky, as it might entail a powder day. However, we do not provide refunds or credit for departing early.
